Dear Parent / Carer,
We were delighted to have had a positive OFSTED inspection last half term, however attendance at the BHPRU was still highlighted as an area of concern and it is something we would very much like to address as soon as possible.
I am sure you are aware of the importance of your child attending school every day, as when children are absent they miss out on vital learning. Although we would love all are pupils to attend 100% of the time, we realise that this isn’t always possible so are therefore aiming for our average attendance to be 95% in line with the national average.
Fixed penalty notices can be issued by the Local Authority for the following reasons
We would like to reward those children who attend well and offer incentives for our reluctant pupils so from January 2018 the following will be in place.
Individual children, who receive 97% attendance or above, will be receive a certificate, they will also be rewarded with a golden afternoon of fun and games every half term.
The children’s attendance will also be considered for termly reward trips. A pupil needs to have a minimum attendance of 90% along with 90% good behaviour grades to qualify for the reward trip. Consideration may be made if children have had long term absence supported by a doctor’s note.
If you have any queries or would like to see our full attendance policy please contact the school office or visit our website.
