Brighton and Hove Pupil Referral Unit was registered on 12 August 2012 following the disaggregation of the Alternative Centre for Education (ACE), which consisted of a Community Special School, Behaviour Support and Outreach Service and Pupil Referral Unit (PRU).
A change in commissioning arrangements for ACE led to the reporting and full administration for the primary BESD provision at ACE, the PRU element and all the outreach resource, transferring centrally to the Local Authority (LA).
Brighton and Hove PRU is a stand-alone 54 place PRU operating out of two sites at Lynchet Close (Primary and KS4) and Dyke Road (KS3). The outreach element at secondary ceased in January 2012 and primary behaviour support was re-commissioned in March 2013.
Our population spans all key stages from all schools across the city. All pupils are at least School Action Plus, some have a statutory assessment underway, or in the case of our primary pupils may have a statement or Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP) naming the PRU.
